Here I will outline what I feel are the best restaurants in Charlotte, NC by category. Some have been reviewed already, others are pending (indicated with a * ). Keep checking in, this page is a work in progress. As I visit more I will add more reviews.
Best Pizza in Charlotte
1) Lorenzo’s Pizzeria *- It’s been a while since I visited this Ballantyne restaurant, but it was as close as to “home’ in Charlotte as I remember.
2) Luigi’s Pizza– A good, yet somewhat inconsistent slice.
3) Tony’s Pizza *- This is my reluctant 3rd choice, big slices which will do in a pinch.
Best Sushi in Charlotte
1) Enso Asian Bistro and Sushi Bar – Many might disagree, but I always have a good, albeit pricey experience at this uptown Sushi restaurant.
2) Sushi 101* – The location on Woodlawn is usually good to me, but not always.
3) Nikko’s* – A south end institution, I stopped going when it felt more like a club than a restaurant. Maybe it’s time for a revisit.
Best Burger in Charlotte
1) Reid’s Fine Foods- The last place you would think to find a good burger, Reid’s delivers the best burger in Charlotte.
2) The Kickstand* – You can make an argument for this Plaza Midwood burger to be number one and I would give only a slight resistance.
3) The Diamond – Think this might have more to do with nostalgia than the quality of the burger, but I remember very little being better at 1:30am on a Saturday.
Best Steak in Charlotte
1) BLT Steak – Expensive, but ounce for ounce the best in my opinion.
2) Beef and Bottle* – Old School steakhouse with a solid steak.
3) Bernadine’s – In all honest I am not sure if I am pronouncing the name right, but I have yet to leave dissatisfied.
Best Restaurant in Charlotte
1) Fig Tree* – This Elizabeth restaurant is top notch, delivering a near perfect experience.
2) Good Food on Montford*– If it wasn’t for the impossible crowds I would visit weekly.
3) Bernadine’s – It not only delivers a great steak, but the entire menu is excellent.
