I gave up writing this Charlotte food blog about three years ago. Maybe I got bored, or I just thought I didn’t have much to say. I moved on to other writing endeavors such as Maninflight.com. Then the pandemic hit, and everyone scrambled to stay in business. I wasn’t going out at all, and that was fine.
A lot has changed in the Charlotte restaurant scene since I stopped writing, and mostly for the worse. Places have used the pandemic and the supply chain problems to give inferior service at inflated prices. I am sick of it. Almost every review is positive, everything is just great according to the brain trusts at Axios Charlotte or google reviewers. Someone needs to bring this city back to reality; therefore, I am up and running again.
I used to feel bad about putting down a hard-working restaurant, just for a couple of reads. Then I remembered I work hard for my money, if you are giving me prepackaged frozen crap or cold food, I will call you out on it. Who am I? I never cooked professionally, hell I have maybe 4 dishes that I can make. The thing is I have been eating all my life and know when someone is phoning it in.
My honesty will only serve to help the people that care. If you are bringing me good food and service I will say so. My aim is to be as transparent as possible; I will tell you if it is a one -time visit or I go often. I will let you know what I ate and my feelings about it. Honesty is all you can expect, I am not trying to put anyone out of business.
Born and raised in the north I have lived in Charlotte for over 20 years. I have traveled the world visiting some of the greatest food cities on the planet. Places such as Rome, New York, Bangkok, Tokyo and Charleston to name a few. One thing is certain, I have an obsession for finding the best meal in whatever city I’m in.
My goal is to take a look at some of the spots Charlotte has to offer and direct you to the best places. I will help you navigate the hype from the authentic. There are a lot of hidden gems as well as disappointing, (but popular) spots in this city, I will help sort them out.
